When and how did the project originate? My production was born out of my final dissertation project. The bamboo bench was inspired by a historical photo of the place near which I grew up, the Híahula marsh. The marsh there used to be drained with big bamboo sheaves.
When did you understand that the project had overcome the ideational phase and had become a product? At the beginning I used fresh green bamboo, and I realized that when the bamboo dries up its volume diminishes. Therefore the structure where the bench legs are joined with the bamboo became instable. In order to solve this problem I chose to use black dried bamboo, which besides making the bench more stable, it gives an elegant touch.[catlist name=start-up-design numberposts=-1]

Quando e come è stato avviata l’impresa? La mia produzione è nata dal mio progetto di tesi. Il banco di bambù è stato ispirato da una foto storica del luogo vicino a quale sono cresciuto – la palude di H’ahula in cui si prosciugava la palude con grossi fasci di bambù.
Quando hai sentito che il progetto aveva superato la fase dell’idea per divenire un prodotto? All’inizio ho usato bambù fresco verde, ma mi sono accorto che quando il bambù si secca, perde di volume. La struttura delle gambe della panca che raccorda il bambù, è diventata instabile. Per risolvere questo problema ho trovato il bambù nero già seccato che, oltre alla stabilità, ha dato alla panchina un aspetto elegante.
